It's not witchcraft . . . it's VUDU (wireless online streaming!)
If there's any rival to the HD home theater revolution, it's the emergence of online streaming directly to your HDTV. And entering the arena with ferocity, Mitsubishi presents StreamTV Internet Media technology featuring VUDU Apps. Simply connect the LT-40164 to your pre-existing broadband internet service using this HDTV's built-in ethernet port or wireless LAN connection, and you can begin streaming a diverse offering of online content directly into your home theater. Lose yourself in one of the 3,000+ HD movies available via VUDU Movies. Listen to a custom internet radio station with Pandora. Browse photo albums on Picasa or Flickr. Stay informed via news from sources like The New York Times, the Associated Press, or NBC Nightly News. You can even enjoy popular video podcasts on Revision3 and DiggNation. Finally, integrated Bluetooth wireless technology lets you access digital music stored on other Bluetooth-capable devices. StreamTV with VUDU Apps may not be witchcraft, but it sure feels like magic.
Redefining "built-in" speakers . . . the Unisen soundbar
Be prepared to think about your HDTV's audio in a whole new way. Many "other" HDTVs usually feature a built-in two-way, two-channel speaker system so that you can at least hear the audio that accompanies your video picture. Mitsubishi's LT-40164, on the other hand, gives you the opportunity to experience your HDTV's audio thanks to the 16-speaker Immersive Sound Technology soundbar. Mounted along the bottom edge of the LT-40164's bezel, the integrated soundbar delivers an encompassing five-channel surround sound effect, fueling 16 individual 2W speaker drivers with Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding. The advanced design and audio-signal timing of this system takes advantage of psychoacoustic principles to bring you a virtual surround sound home theater without additional obtrusive speakers and cables. The complete HDTV experience — 1080p LED video and 5.1-channel audio.
Depth, sharpness, perfection . . .
Three words sum up the improved panel performance of Mitsubishi's LT-165 Unisen LED LCD series. When it comes to advanced video reproduction, the Full HD 1080p panel resolution, edge-lit LED backlighting, and widescreen aspect ratio are only the beginning. A DeepField imager continuously analyzes 135 sectors of the video picture in real time, constantly adjusting panel brightness and contrast for optimum settings in all areas of the picture. Further, EdgeEnhance technology offers advanced edge-definition signal processing, enhancing horizontal and vertical edges for stunning picture precision with minimum distortion. Finally, improved Plush1080p 5G 12-bit processing optimizes all HD source material for display on a 1080p-resolution screen. The result is a custom video experience, no matter what you're watching.
The need for speed
Okay, tell us if this sounds familiar. It's Monday night, and you and all your buddies are gathered around your old flat panel HDTV watching the football game, when the running back breaks away full-tilt down the field toward the end zone. Someone in your living room shouts: "Wow, look at that! That guy's running so fast his legs are a blur!" "Yeah, that's incredible", you reply. With your old flat panel, you just couldn't bring yourself to admit that the blurring of the running back's legs was the result of your HDTV's slow panel response time and not of the athlete's prowess. Light-hold devices like DLP, LCD, and plasma HDTVs all have some degree of motion blurring in fast-moving images or videos. Some just have way less blur — presenting the LT-40164 LED LCD from Mitsubishi. Designed with True120Hz technology, this LED panel displays more fluid and natural fast-moving images using a super-fast 120Hz panel response time. Now you and your friends will be catching all of the action, whether you're cheering your favorite sports teams on in the big game or watching your favorite action flicks.
Fact: you just can't have too much color
If you thought Technicolor was out of this world, you might want to sit down for this. The LT-40164 is capable of displaying . . . billions of colors. What's more, special features designed into the LT-40164 give you the control to customize these colors for optimal, lifelike video reproduction. Okay, now, what's this business about billions of colors? Well, the tag team of x.v.Color and Deep Color allows the LT-40164's screen to display such a large number of colors by expanding the supported color gamut (the work of x.v.Color) and by broadening the color spectrum used to represent the graphical image data being sent to your screen (thank you, Deep Color). Further, Deep Color allows for smooth transitions between color shades, thus eliminating color banding and other visual artifacts for a sharper, more lifelike image. Additionally, a 6-color processor enhances the LT-40164's color capacity by producing brighter colors, a wider range of colors, and whiter whites. You get the color you want for all your video sources.
Less "noise" means better video
The LT-40164's exclusive Video Noise Reduction uses advanced algorithms to better identify video noise from fine detail and correct the signal rather than distort it. Video noise is caused by distortions in the video signal that make the picture look grainy or snowy. As signal resolutions improve with the introduction of DVD, digital cable/ satellite and HDTV, the loss of sharpness produced by most noise reduction circuits becomes more noticeable. Mitsubishi's advanced Video Noise Reduction corrects the image in four dimensions: horizontally, vertically, within each frame, and across multiple frames to provide an image that is crystal clear and extraordinarily detailed.
An HDTV for all occasions
Because you don't plan on using your new high definition LT-40164 to enjoy just one type of video, and because you might find yourself watching it at various times of day, Mitsubishi has designed this LCD with four video modes, letting you customize the TV's performance. Choose between Gaming Mode and Natural Mode when switching between graphical video game images and live-action movies and television programs. If you're sitting down to a matinee, use Brilliant and Bright modes to optimize panel performance in situations with high ambient light.
Now that's a digital photo
Thanks to a front USB port, you can connect a USB thumb drive or USB Card Reader to the LT-40164 and use the 40" screen as a giant photo album. Heck, you can even use the USB input to listen to digital music files over the LT-40164?s 16-speaker sound bar!
The advanced connectivity of HDMI
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Mitsubishi's LT-40164 features four HDMI connections. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components.
